In its opening week, The Umbrella Academy was the biggest digital show in the US!
According to Parrot Analytics, a data analytics firm who believe they offer the most accurate measure of demand for TV worldwide, demand for The Umbrella Academy grew exponentially over opening the weekend, as shown in this chart, which compares The Umbrella Academy to the rest of the current top 10.
Measuring audiences forNetflix productions is always a complicated exercise, as the broadcaster refuses to disclose the numbers – unless breaking a potential record.
The analysis therefore often involves relatively reliable indicators, such as the media noise of work on social networks, the possible interactions within the fanbase, or our good old corridor sounds.
The company Parrot Analytics relies for its part on an algorithm compiling different reactions, since the number of people who claim to like a series to the number of subscriptions supposed it would have obtained - if we can doubt the veracity of these data, Dark Horse seems quite convinced.
The publisher announces via its official website that Umbrella Academy would have made the best performance, all series (digital) combined, in terms of ratings on its opening weekend. Good results that would be superior to Titans, Daredevil or even Stranger Things, yet reputed to be one of the biggest hits of the brand.
One wonders if this is not a disguised way for Dark Horse to communicate the hearings without giving figures - since if their partner has to provide them with quantified data, it is likely that they no longer have the right to open it - or if all that is not just a sleeve effect. However, in fact, Umbrella Academy has better audiences than series started three or four years ago could also be the result of a stupid logical observation: every year, more and more people subscribe to Netflix, simply.
If a quality indicator (much more reliable) interests you in passing, we devoted a podcast to the series just recently. It's not to scrape her, but my mother told me she thought it was really cool - now you do what you want.
