Just when you thought you heard it all, Sunseeker elbows its way into the outboard market with a long-speculated but surprisingly secret project dubbed Hawk 38.
Now is the perfect time for a high-performance day boat, designed engineered and built to exacting standards; the all-new hawk 38 will deliver an experience like nothing else in the market.” – Christian Marti, Sunseeker Ceo
The foundation of the high-performance day boat is said to be a stepped hull designed in conjunction with Italian studio Fabio Buzzi Design–a company founded by a European racing legend best known for high-speed commercial, police and military craft.
The Hawk 38’s “searing performance” will ensure “it’s always the first to the best anchorage or beach restaurant,” the yard said.
Sunseeker described the Hawk 38 as the “ultimate superyacht chase boat”, whose “patented structural foam hull” and “anti-dive bow” makes it “unsinkable“.
This Hawk was born to soar courtesy of twin Mercury R400s that Sunseeker says will lend the boat a top end near 61 knots. If that doesn’t quite quench your need for speed, Sunseeker is teasing, “For even more performance, other outboard engines are available to special order.”
You have to look pretty close at the renderings of the 38 but if you do you’ll notice that it comes standard with Hypalon 866 STAB inflatable tubes on each side to reduce pitching underway and perhaps most importantly, not damage a Sunseeker mothership.
But before you go calling the 38 a tender, hold your 800 horses. From the renderings, we can see a versatile sun pad and C-shaped seating forward. Combined with the head and vanity below allows this craft to perform the duties of a world-class day boat.
The best seat in the house will undoubtedly be at the helm beneath the carbon fiber canopy. When not watching the horizon fly towards you in a blur of raw speed, the captain will have all the controls for the boat at his fingertips courtesy of twin 16-inch Simrad MFDs that are coupled to a CZone digital switching system and Lumishore’s Lumi-Link lighting system to ensure you pull into shore in style.
One thing is clear: This Hawk will soar.
“The heritage of the Sunseeker brand is unparalleled; built on a legacy of developing small performance racing boats...and it lies within the brand’s DNA. Having worked previously with FB Design on the XS2000 and XS Sport as far back as 18 years ago,” said Sunseeker CEO Christian Marti in a release. “To properly understand the market and therefore genuine customer demand, we carried out detailed research to fully appreciate the breadth of this complex sector.”
