BUM BUM BADA DUM BUM…can you hear the Game of Thrones theme song?
It will be stuck in our heads from now until the final season premiere on April 14th. But now you can enjoy the Game of Thrones season 8 trailer video.
And it is EPIC!
There is so much happening, so many of our favorite characters (and our favorite characters to hate) are featured. But, in typically GOT fashion, they aren’t revealing any major plot points. There are some clues in the trailer that tells us what’s happening. So, let’s dive in.
Any trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8?
It’s here. Two minutes and two seconds of Game Of Thrones season eight in trailer form. Behold the majesty:
That’s a bloody-eyed Arya running scared, dragons over Winterfell, a rousing battle speech, a passionate kiss, a teary Cersei, a steadfast Jaime, and an army marching to face its undead foe… Shiver.
Previously, fourteen glorious images from season eight were released by HBO, and you can see them all in our gallery above. They’re focused more on the characters and less on a broad content of scenes, so there’s unlikely to be much in there to spoil anything for you.
HBO’s CEO Richard Plepler rolled up to the 76th Golden Globe Awards recently to build some more hype for the upcoming season.
It’s a spectacle,” he told Variety. “The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie.
Plepler added that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have done a hell of a job winding up the series: “They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched [the episodes] twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
HBO also previously released the first glimpse at season 8 in its 2019 showcase trailer. We knew from previous hints that this would be the first scene of season 8, but in the new video, Sansa Stark and Daenerys Targaryen meet. The Lady of Winterfell and the Khaleesi of the Grass Sea!
Forget Jon Snow, this is a real introduction of ice and fire…
What is the release date for Game of Thrones Season 8?
In cruel words that have been long dreaded, yet grimly anticipated, Game Of Thrones will meet its true TV death in season 8...and the final season will not begin airing until 14th April.
On the upside, the final season might consist of only feature-length episodes. For context, the only Game Of Thrones episode to run that long was the season 7 finale, which barely made the cut at 80 minutes flat. So there are good and bad tidings to anticipate as our watch continues.
We've had confirmation that season 8 will be simulcast here in the UK on both Sky Atlantic and NOW TV, so you won't have to miss a thing if your devotion is strong and you can keep your eyes open until the wee hours of the morning.
