Sara Jahan: “I work with nursing when I am not in front of the cameras. I mostly do paid jobs now, unless I find a photographer who has ideas I really like (if Sean Archer reads this, contact me!) and has something I can use in my portfolio.
I live with my boyfriend who is the photographer behind these pictures and we spend a lot of time just taking pictures. I guess we’re kind of lucky to be able to combine our hobbies.
I would love to be able to live from my modeling work, but the competition is hard in Denmark. We plan to do a lot of traveling to expand our network and do jobs around the world, both as a team and seperate.”
How do you stay in such great shape? What is/are your secret workout move(s)?
To be honest, I don’t do anything besides running and a home routine of different drills with bosy weight and I eat just about anything I want. I guess I am blessed with a high metabolism. This said, I prefer eating vegetables and meat, so I guess that helps too.
What type of meals do you eat in a day?
I never eat breakfast and I mostly eat fruit during the day and then a lot of meat for dinner.
Have you ever modeled with a male model?
I am actually quite new into modeling, so I have never posed with a male model. I have done a few fashion shows with male models though.
What was your first photoshoot like?
My first shoot was a bit awkward. It took a little time to get used to the camera and today when I look at the pictures, I can’t help laughing a little.
What has been your best shoot to date?
My best shoot was with my boyfriend, who is also the photographer behind these pictures, one summer at the beach in Roskilde where we live. The pictures turned out really well and it was just a nice sunmer day.
Any advice for aspiring fitness models?
Stay true to yourself. Most photographers are really nice people, but some try to push your boundaries – never let them do that. The pictures you make will follow you the rest of your life, so be sure that it is something you will be comfortable looking at 30 years from now.
What sorts of modeling goals do you have for the future?
I hope to end up being able to make a living by modeling. It is not easy in a small country like Denmark, but perhaps a publication in Volo will help me reach some of the many great photographers and magazines around the world.
My full time job is actually teaching Danish, math, religion and PE. I ran my own MMA and BJJ academy until a year ago, where a bad neck injury put a stop to it. Had to find something else to fill my spare time with, so I started taking pictures of my girlfriend Sara Jahan, who is the model in the series and also a semi-pro model.
I try to take pictures that tells a story, whether it is men or women standing in front of me and I prefer an editing with strong colors that almost gives the photos an HDR appearance.
Though photography is mostly a hobby, I am now lucky enough to be able to make a little extra, since people have been very kind and interested in my work.
