It's all good. It's all really good.

Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

It may not be January 1, but we are on the cusp of a new season. You say, “over the top,” but for many out there it’s the “Fashion Month.” As much as we’ll miss showing off our retro headbands on a beach in Bali (wait, no, that’s Chrissy Teigen), we’re more than willing to give the fall season a chance.  Just like the beginning of a new year, it’s all about taking chances and pushing the boundaries outside our comfort zones. And this year is no different.

Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

Taking beauty looks full-on fantastical is pretty much the runway’s whole deal, but this season felt different.  When gender equality has been at the forefront of conversation, it’s no surprise that the message of female strength was manifested through powerful red lips, don’t-mess-with-me-hairstyles and punk-inspired eyeliner on the autumn/winter 2018 catwalks. This season’s woman is not afraid to make a statement with her beauty, and the results make for some arresting looks. Elsewhere, 60′ inspired lashes heralded the return of mascara, whilst the glitter-heavy make-up at Giambattista Valli. And Preen made it clear that spring/summer 2018’s trend for sparkle and Sheen is going nowhere fast.

Our strategy: Scope out inspiration from Instagram, Red Carpet, Runways (any possible place you can think of), testing trends, and taking plenty of selfies. Luckily, I’ve found everything I need — from a neon liner to glitter shadow — perfect for the season.  And you know what’s better, it’s all celeb-approved. If you’re thinking what I’m thinking, then keep scrolling ahead for all the makeup inspiration you need for Fall Make-Up Trends 2018.

  1. 1 The Bright Pink Lids at Christian Siriano

    The Vibe: Sultry and sweet

These punky London lids are the burst of color my makeup routine needs right now.

Get the Look: The smoky eye got a revamp at Siriano's show, where models wore a vibrant pink shadow with a blue liner on the bottom waterline. The shade was actually achieved using an E.L.F. liquid lipstick.

  2. 2 The Space-Age Bobs at Jeremy Scott

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

The Vibe: "I wanted to put across a feeling of '80s futuristic pop," makeup artist Kabuki said.

Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation. Natalie Portman in Closer, where do I even begin on my love for a pink wig?!

Get the Look: Kabuki created artful, exaggerated neon-colored wings using hand-made clear stencils outlined with MAC acrylic paint. Lips were given a natural finish with the lip palette from Jeremy Scott's new MAC collaboration.

  3. 3 The Sequin Stares at Alice + Olivia

    The Vibe: Rock 'n roll

Why make time for Kira Kira when you can bring your own?

Get the Look: Eyes were rimmed super dark using a gel pencil smudged along the crease and top and bottom lash lines. Lead makeup artist Erin Parsons then topped off the lids with black loose glitter.

    If You Desperate To Buy One Thing: Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil, $8;

  4. 4 Pop of Neon- Chromat

    The Vibe: Neon war paint.

Just another ’80s influence making its way into our makeup bags. Understated neons were everything at Chromat, Jason Wu, and Tibi’s 2018 fall/winter shows. Aqua cat eyes, floating fuchsia liner, and electric accents are the hottest way to take your minimal makeup to a whole new level this fall. A super skinny pencil is your go-to tool for perfecting this artful eye.

Get the Look: In a show celebrating true diversity, there was no uniform way to apply this bright, blueliner. Lead makeup artist Fatima Thomas varied the eye look from model to model and paired with a lip created by blending fuchsia and orange.

  1. 1 The Golden Cupid’s Bow at Brandon Maxwell

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

    The Vibe: Power lip.

Nothing feels more regal than a touch of gold on a velvet red lip—especially when that red is MAC's Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color in Feels So Grand, which looked good on literally every model in the show.

Get the Look: Lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux kept the look low-key with a focus on head-turning pouts. He used a universal matte true red liquid lipstick and highlighted the cupid's bow with a yet-to-be-announced gold highlighter.

  2. 2 The Midnight-Blue Lips and Tips at Self Portrait

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

The Vibe: An ombré midnight blue and berry lip make an almost-goth statement look when paired with dewy, naked skin.

Get the look: Piggybacking off of the pink eyeshadow fall 2018 makeup trend, other jewel tones were just as popular. Think rich, exaggerated fuchsia wings, sultry navy smokey eyes, and forest green and royal purple-washed lids. Some designers opted for a statement lip instead of the “bold eye and naked skin” look that’s so popular this season. We’re really into this two-toned jewel lip at Self-Portrait (and her equally cool midnight blue nails, of course).

A Chic Pixie statement look that pretty much washes and goes away. Add a touch of texture to make it extra cool.

  3. 3 The Rust-Red Lips at Cushnie et Ochs

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

    The Vibe: Plum lips.

Trade in your classic crimson. A burnt-red shade flatters all skin tones (seriously) and is basically fall's answer to summer's cheerful cherry.

Get the Look: While models' lids had a slight wash of metallic gold, lead makeup artist James Kaliardos emphasized a bold, deep berry lip.

  1. 1 Alexander Wang

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

    The Vibe: HBIC.

Get the Look: Wang's girls were all about minimalism, but no less powerful, beauty. Diane Kendal focused on glowy skin, sharp contouring, and the slightest grey-brown eyeshadow to evoke the look of a "Wang Inc." woman in charge.

  2. 2 The 'Oh, This?' Makeup at Balmain

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

The Vibe: Pause to appreciate the highlight. Now, someone get this model a Glossier ad.

Get The Look: I will never want anything more than I want perfect skin, and because selling my soul to the devil in exchange for it isn’t on the table right now, really good makeup will have to do. This look by makeup artist Nikki Wolff is the prime example of what dewy foundation should look like — glowy, not greasy — and I love me a little (or a lot) of highlighter in the inner corners of the eyes. Blot down the lip, and this is everything I’m going for on a daily basis.

  3. 3 The Glitter-Bombed Faces at Giambattista Valli

    Fall Make-Up Trends 2018

The Vibe:  When there's a sale on highlighter at Sephora, and you have no self-control.

Get The Look: Makeup artist Val Garland dusted models' entire faces and necks in holographic glitter for an over-the-top interpretation of the beauty world's current obsession with sparkle.
