Spring 2019 NYFW is shaping up to wickedly luxurious if THE BLONDS have anything to say about it. The high-fashion designers have collaborated with Disney to create a sinfully fun Villains collection featuring some of Disney’s best baddies.

Bejeweled bodices, thigh-high platform pumps, stiletto nails, and seductive fishnet stockings brought a new level of femme fatale among Disney villains onto the catwalk.

The catwalk of the design duo The Blonds, that is.

David and Phillipe Blond, known for edgy, provocative collections and runway shows, collaborated with Disney to merge the wicked and the sleek among its most famous villains. Ursula was there. So was Maleficent. Paris Hilton was a great Cruella de Vil in a silver studded bodysuit, a Chihuahua in hand. The Disney Villains x The Blonds runway show was frightfully fabulous.

It's definitely safe to say that Disney villains are having a moment. Between the hit Descendants franchise and plenty of ~evil~ inspired beauty products to choose from, there's no doubt that even the biggest baddies of Disney contain plenty of appeals.

If you need more evidence, look no further than The Blonds Spring/Summer 2019 show at New York Fashion Week on Friday, September 7. The event, aptly titled "Disney Villains x The Blonds," paid homage to some of the most iconic evil characters from classic Disney films. With models dressed in vibrant colors, sporting glittering crowns or studded jackets, there was no mistaking the vision. An array of villains hit the runway, ranging from 101 Dalmation's Cruella de Vil to the Evil Queen from Snow White, while clips from the corresponding films played in the background to really set the mood.

Designer David Blond told Reuters that inspiration struck him and his partner, Phillipe Blond, noting that they both "always loved the vixen, the femme fatale, and all the villains have these qualities." He added that Disney villains are often the "standout" characters, explaining "they have the best personality — it’s always something that’s interesting and unusual."

Models also sported intricate manicures designed by CND that were inspired by some of the evilest Disney characters around. Jan Arnold, co-founder and style director of CND, told Elle that they began discussing the inspiration for the collection with The Blonds approximately two months ago. (And guess what the nails themselves took a whopping 500 hours to make.)

"These villains use their nails to do their evil deeds," Arnold added, noting that many of the models' nails had a "weapon-like" shape. "The Blonds were looking for that dimension."

The nails themselves are a literal work of art. With eye-catching colors, sparkling gems, and unique textures, these manicures are enough to convince anyone to go over to the dark side...or at least make a deal or two with a Sea Witch. Being a villain has never looked so glam.

To design the collection, David and co-founder and designer Phillipe Blond asked:

“If Cruella was an entertainer now and in the real world, what would she wear? What would her style be like?

“What drew us to working with Disney Villains are the complex attributes of the characters themselves,” David said in the press release. “Often misunderstood, Disney Villains are flawed, imposing and mysterious, and we loved the idea of taking these characteristics and translating them in a glamorous way, making them the heroes of our story.”

The designers actually visited the Disney Archive Research Library to better understand each villain’s mythology and view original artwork and sculpts.

The Disney Villains style is iconic and has inspired us since childhood and throughout our career. The opportunity to collaborate with Disney and see these designs come to life on The Blonds runway is an absolute dream come true,” David and Phillipe said.

If you’re anxious to take part in the first-ever Disney Villains franchise but don’t exactly have an occasion to wear embellished mini dresses or titled coats, Lauren Moshi collaborated with Disney and The Blonds for a villains-inspired collection of T-shirts, jackets, and pants in a 20-piece collection priced between $125-$1,200.

And the very best part? It’s available to shop right now.
